MAgneto is to woocommerce what joomla is to wordpress. You get a "uglier" system but if you have the coding knowledge you can do alot more with it. Its a powerful toll in the hands of web developers that know what they are doing. That being said its being challenged by woocommerce which is offering that functionality on plugin bases. Now for a website a ton of plugins are not the greatest thing but MOST website users wont know the difference.
