He did fine, yes, but what code or pattern did he use? I can't figure it out. He said it was the same as his sight but I couldn't figure it out.

There is no "best programming language". It really depends on what you already know, the type of programmer you are, and the goals of the app you are making. For the web I would go with JavaScript, Python with Django, or Ruby/Rails. Stay away from PHP and Perl. They have their uses, too, but Python and Ruby do the job SO much better, have a better community, and better documentation.

While I agree there is no best programming language i cant agree with your second statement. Telling people to stay away from php. Php is not the cleanest or best compiled programming langauge but there are a few things it still does better than most other languages. If you reply is because of security issues thats on developers and not the language and if its based on job availability I just remember we are seeing a boom in python right now amazing language as it is an outclasses php in many ways for some web applications its too much. The trend will surely end if it doesnt and every developer jumps to python we are going to have a ton of internet websites written in php with very few developers thats gong to make the job price skyrocket.
