Magento and Shopify is both for creating Mobile shopping apps. Each platform has particular strength and weakness. The weakness of Magento is its dashboard has a not good look, quite difficult to use. The weakness of Shopify is not strong enough if your store is too big.

While both Shopify and Magento Community are fairly powerful ecommerce hosting platforms, Shopify provides greater ease of use since it is a hosted and fully managed service.

No need to expand too much on what has already been said about this topic. Magento being the “Android” type has by far the most number of applications and extensions available to users. Shopify is a restricted, but still widely used app store, and offers many of the same or similar style extensions that Magento does, without as much customization within the implementation.
1) Payment gateways extensions
Magento – 906
Shopify – 41 (for USA)
2) Marketing extensions
Magento – 1817
Shopify – 287
3) Shipping
Magento – 422
Shopify – 96

While both platforms do offer integrations with Point of Sale providers and card swipers. They have differences in the way you are able to use them for in store purchases.
