We have at the moment a new building up magento shop. There are some categories like

Mens
Womens
Activity
Brands
Childrens
Now we like to do the follow, instead to having one index/main page, we like to "put" an overall main page, with four (4) "main" categories in.

Those will be

Outdoor
Activ
Fashion
Work
Under each of those categories (or whatever we call) we will have categories plus subcategories as above.

I was thinking to do something like 4 "departments". Means maybe to do a multiple store in Magento, where I can use and take from each categories/products?

Or how I could do?

On this main first page, we will have only 4 different images, linked to

www.ourdomain.com/outdoor www.ourdomain.com/acive www.ourdomain.com/work www.ourdomain.com/fashion

Some advise and suggestion would be nice.
