I haven't tried it but it talks about an export template or something, I guess you could use this method and convert all your product data to the template format.

If there is API for the products export then there should be a possibility to import the products into Magento-based store. It is important to keep correct file format for import. You can use some kind of a transition module that would connect both sites and their databases and allow export/import of the products.
