1. China cannot do SEO, because the biggest search engine Baidu said the SEO is break the law. They are the law. Baidu has strong reasons for doing these. Before Google left China, the SEO can be done. However, the Chinese companies are so smart, they always find some ideas to improve the ranking in a short time. Short time means spam, always. Baidu are so tired fighting with spam in China, and have to stop companies doing SEO.
Google may same, but use the different methods. They always updating the search engine. Actually SEO no gray, white and black. Google is the game maker, they just don't users feel disappoint, after that would go yahoo and bing. Google is smart.

2. The China companies cannot do seo, so they have to social media like weibo, wechat, and renren. The latest wechat marketing created 400 million sales companies in China. They are just launched less than 3 years. They found the social media has the lower cost than SEO. For example. the wechat advertisement just cost $0.10 per click in China. However the same effects must cost $0.30 per click in Baidu.

For a website, the most important thing is the traffics. The real traffics mean potential buyers. If you company has enough budget, you should do social media marketing and seo services both. However, if you are just start up, social media is the only choice.
