    Thumbs up Honorable Mentions

CrazyEGG is another analytics tool created by the co-owner of KISSmetrics and deserves an honorable mention. CrazyEGG offers an uncommon way to interpret traffic data with heat maps. Examining what people do and where their eyes go on a site is very different than looking at the page they exited. While heat maps are not your typical analytics, the data that heat maps provide can be invaluable in understanding user site flow. Alternatives to CrazyEgg that get the job done are Hotjar and ClickTale. I’ve found the Hotjar user recordings really interesting in mapping out how people consume content.
The more you understand about the user journey, the more you’re able to iron out any potential usability issues. The new term for funnel is journey, which is probably because the focus is now making sites more experiential.
