LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) is the a portion of Google's calculation that will crease words into a grid for investigations, with the end goal of recognizing semantically related terms. Web crawlers apply this procedure through connecting related words together by dissecting how certain watchwords on sites show up in mix with other related catchphrases, then associating them to a specific subject or idea. LSI likewise permits web crawlers to better interpret sites to give more pertinent query items with higher quality substance, free from catchphrase stuffing and spam.

LSI, not LIS is a system used by Google and other major search engines. The contents of a webpage are crawled by a search engine and the most common words and phrases are collated and identified as the keywords for the page

LSI stands for Latent Semantic Indexing. Latent Semantic Indexing keywords can make your content look more natural to search engines and users. Instead of using the exact phrase repeatedly throughout your text, you can use synonyms and other terms that are related to your content and have the same meaning with your target key phrase.

LSI sure does exists. If it were not then why a search result for "hut" bring up Pizza Hut or Dominos Pizza?

I'm not an expert here, but it doesn't seem like a direct synonym, and they certainly do not have the same stem.

LSI obviously represents terms and documents in a rich, high-dimensional space, allowing the underlying, semantic relationships between terms and documents to be exploited during searching. Latent semantic indexing, or LSI, is a concept, not a technique. All that's necessary do to satisfy the contextual relevance part of the Google algorithm is to write naturally about your subject and do not try to fool search engines through the endless repetitive use of keywords without any other contextually relevant content. It is not a technique, it is common sense and good and clear writing practice.

You are confused between LSI and LIS
LSI is a term of SEO, which stands Latent Semantic Indexing from. When a search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing ...) using this method, it will try to list the search involving keywords you search for.

LSI or Latent Semantic Indexing works on the premise, that words in an article that are used in the same way, like synonyms, mean one thing and is therefore, relevant to each other. For example, in writing an article for weight loss where I target the keywords "lose stomach fat", I can only use the target keyword a certain number of times. So, I will use the synonyms or variations of the target keyword, and this helps increase the relevance of your article to your target keyword.

Latent Semantic Indexing is not a science, it is simple common sense. Here are some simple guidelines:
If your page title is Learn to Play Tennis, make sure your article is about tennis.
Do not overuse your keywords in the content. It could look like keyword stuffing and the search engines may red flag you.
Never use Article Spinning Software – it spits out unreadable garble.
If you outsource your content, choose a quality source.
Check Google Webmaster Tools and see what keywords your pages are ranking for.
