Can too much SEO be a cause of over optimization?

    As long as you do not manipulate search engine results then you can still continue optimizing your website.

    Yes, It is true. Building bulk link at once and doing over optimize a site for quick ranking higher on search engine is danger for your site. Your site may be penalized by doing so. I would suggest you create few back link but high quality and natural rather than low quality or bulk submission.

    SEO is awesome, but too much SEO can cause over-optimization. Search engine over-optimization is the practice of creating too many SEO improvements to the point that the improvements begin to ruin the website's ability to rank.
