Default SEO vs PPC : Which gives a better return on investment?

SEO provides a far more long term return on investment. If you can gain a first page ranking and stay there, you will see a more consistent income and more longevity within the search engines.

If you compare this with PPC the ad is only there for as long as you are bidding on it. If you are looking for a quick win, PPC is your man but SEO provides you with a far better return on investment long term.

SEO is long term process to get rank it depends on keywords, Some keywords rank in top it's take 2 to 3 years also.

PPC is helps to get rank top in a single day by paying money per each click.

There are many things that you should consider within this argument.

A couple of main SEO benefits:
    - long term benefit
    - ROI growth is exponential (once your SEO is done right - the ROI will only grow, since the amount of money and time spent will stay the same, compared to the growing amounts of traffic)
    - the scope: it's bigger than with any CPC platform. If you SEO is good, you don't have to go and ask Google or Bing or Yahoo to show you in results. It just happens. While with CPC you have to go through various advertising solutions, until you find the right one for you.

A couple of main CPC benefits:
    - scalability: it's easier to control your expanditures with CPC, while SEO requires more or less constant efforts
    - ROI visibility: it's easier to calculate ROI for CPC, while SEO ROI is still a mistery for some of the marketers that I know
    - the benefit of SEO being the long term solution, is it's main disadvantage, comparing to CPC. If you're launching a startup, you can't wait for months until the traffic starts rolling in. You need the results now.
    - incredible testing conveyer. It's great to test ideas, business models, texts, etc. with CPC - just make a landing page for your hypothetical product and get some paid traffic to it, see if people are interested. You can't do that with SEO

The best approach would be an equilibrium between SEO and CPC approaches. And while we're at it, squeeze in other marketing tactics here too - content, PR, branding, etc. A well-balanced marketing strategy is all about the harmony between your channels.
