Broken links are always bad for your website, it can decrease your position on search engine.

To check all broken links (If you are webmaster):

Open Google Webmasters Tool >> Sign in with your Google Acount >> Click on the Website for which you need to find broken links >> On Dashboard page, Click on Crawl Errors section >> Then you will see two sections (Site Errors, URL Errors), Click on URL Errors to find all broken links in your website.

If you are not webmaster and need to find broken links of a website, then you should use any online free tool to find them.

The process of identifying and removing the broken links depends on whether you are working on a standard website or a blog. If you have a WordPress blog, there are plugins that you can use for detecting the broken links and removing them.

Otherwise you can follow a simple procedure for detecting the broken links and removing them from a blog / website:

How to detect the broken links?
    Login to Google Webmaster Tools
Click on the URL of your blog / website for managing it
Click on ‘Health’ and then click on ‘Crawl Errors’
In case there are any broken links, they will be displayed

How to remove the broken links from the website / blog?
Click on ‘Health’ and then on ‘Crawl Errors’
Once the broken links are displayed, copy them
Click on ‘Configuration’ and then go to Crawler Access
Click on ‘Remove URL’ – New Removal Request
Now paste the links that you have copied earlier
When a new page is shown, click on ‘Submit’

This process will remove the broken or dead links in the blog or the website.

Go to Content – Content by Title on the dashboard, and load the page. ...
All kinds of nonexistent or broken links will trigger the 404 error page. ...
The next step is to click the “Go” button on the Google Analytics filter page. ...
Remember that redirecting and fixing broken links is an ongoing process.
