Did you try hosting package? Almost my customers think about the VPS in the first time but they don't know they have to buy the managed magento vps to get their site fast. A managed magento vps is too expensive since almost people don't need too much resource like that.

Can I ask you a question that how much 's your traffic and how many products in your site?

I recommend you try the hosting package first with GoGeek SiteGround Magento Hosting, try it with risk free and if you are not happy with the speed then get back to me, I will tell you the solution.

I have to say: it 's so cool. You can try it to see the difference. I am almost comfortable with their service and help and of course the page load is really nice.

essentially you can buy a blank vps and set it up cheap but this is really not recommended by me. for one you need to tune the mySQL, PHP.ini and many other settings of the server, know whm/cpanel backwards and then need to worry about updates and issues so need to know SSH.

So for anyone without this knowledge should really just use a specialist hosting company where not knowing how to do the above is not important (more expensive but easier all round).

Also a VPS will not be faster than some shared hoisting, the reason for this is because the servers used for the VPS have to run extra software to manage the Virutal Machine VM which slows the server down, then on top of this the Hard drives are usually in a managed SAN, JBOD etc over a network. So no matter how fast the HDD you have runs at if you are on a 100MB/s network your server will never work faster than the network it is running on.

So advice is AVOID AVOID AVOID ANY VPS some hosts have better shared hosting plans that run faster than a VPS.

i wrote a great guide here on magento shared hosting for developers.

Oh, but the vps for magento will have much more bandwidth resource, right? It will be granted for a dedicated server resource instead of shared hosting what have limited resource?

I am using SiteGround shared hosting and yes, it work really fast. But I am not sure if some days my site increase to 20k visits/day, I have to move to vps or not. Thanks

It will work well with at least 200 products and 20k visits/day for sure. I am hosting one of my site like that. But maybe more than 30k visits/day I am not sure.

Do you have any special magento teak and cache or extension to make magento faster or just simply install magento in your hosting. Your number is really nice for a hosting.

Just need to install magento standard and you will see it work faster. Then if you want to make even more fast, you will need to configure memcached and varnish cache. You will see it in Supercacher tools in cpanel of SiteGround if you buy GrowBig or GoGeek package

I know it 's a very good hosting and it may work for some of my shop. But now I have a very big magento shop and I don't want my shop work on a shared environment (shared magento hosting). I willing pay for a dedicated magento developer to maintain magento vps/dedicated server. Which magento hosting provider do you think I should take a look at?

Well, if you like SiteGround then I don't know why you don't go with their VPS plan? I don't think their price is too expensive since they provide you a dedicated support and help with optimise server.

The GooGeek package already optimised the bandwidth, you will not need the dedicated traffic network because they provided more than enough to handle. What you need is optimising the magento site.

Does it support memcached and varnish cache? I hear that magento only work fast if their server support well for caching solution.

Yes, it support memcached and varnish cache. Other than that, they support magento extension dedicated for varnish cache in supercacher what do the caching better. So you can make sure they have a very nice performance when using them.

The important thing is Varnish cache plugin what siteGround support for their hosting plan, you should install and configure it to make your magento work faster. It 's really faster than I thought a lot.

I has just bought one service hosting package from SiteGround what support Varnish. It work really good after doing the caching configuration. To have full caching solution, you have to buy the GrowBig or Gogeek package. It doesn't support caching for basic package $3.95. I think it make sense too.

I has just known that SiteGround got their own custom extension for Varnish cache what intergrate to their hosting and make it work really fast. That 's so cool.
