Errors for no reason

Hi,

Have had this issue for a couple of days now nothing fixes it.

Fatal error: Class 'Mage_Core_Model_App' not found in /home/hoytoynl/public_html/app/Mage.php on line 669 

I have tried many propsed solutions given on the web, mainly to do with disabling the compiler. None of this has worked.

I just upload a backup of the site data (not including images) and the errors are still there.

No idea what to do. Anyone seen this before? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you delete all of files and folder in "var"?
