Let’s say warm welcome to new generation of Virtuemart, called Virtuemart 3 has been released with many new features under the hood and developed from VM2. It’s strong, and stable with aim to increase site performance, along with looking and working almost as VM2, but the feeling and handling is different.

VM2 to VM3 is an upgrade, implemented using the Joomla install manager. It does not require a migration. The team maintained as much compatibility as possible with VM2 but they definitely made some changes in order to deliver the improvements in VM3.
